Course summary
The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Creative Media Production is a rigorous specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and with a strong work related emphasis. On the course you will have the opportunity to develop productions from concept to screen. You will explore the practical roles of cinematographer, lighting director, director and screenwriter. You will work as part of a production team as well as develop your own independent projects. This two-year higher education course is practical and vocationally focused, and aims to prepare you to move to a degree course or into employment. It offers both theoretical and practical units combined with an extensive range of teaching and learning methods that enhance the learners’ knowledge and skill. Learners will develop an in-depth understanding of how the film industry is structured, and learn how they can develop a career in this challenging, exciting, dynamic industry. You will use professional video and editing equipment We will tutor students in how to use professional film and editing equipment and all BTEC Higher Nationals have been designed and developed with consideration of National Occupational Standards. You will be taught in a nurturing environment with lots of expert support from our experienced and industry qualified tutors. They will teach you through a blend of lectures, guest speakers, seminars, case studies as well as individual and group work. This HND course is a higher level course at level 4 for those wishing to develop their skills for work within the media industry. It is mapped to the occupational standards in the sector set by skillset. The HNC course consists of 8 units, of which three are Core Units, three are mandatory Specialist Units and a further 2 are optional units. The HND is a further 7 units. The HNC course is made up of 8 units. Assessment method
Assessment will be through assignments (mainly) and some examinations. Each outcome or module will be assessed by a project-style assignment. Upon completion of all outcomes in a unit, the student will be able to undertake the End Graded assignment or End Test (depending on the unit) to obtain a unit grade. The method of assessment has been designed to encourage continuous written and verbal feedback throughout the course to ensure he highest grade attainable for each unit in conjunction with the highest quality education.
