Course summary

Education Studies provides valuable insights into learning, teaching, education systems and policies. It introduces a variety of educational concepts and fields of enquiry. You will investigate the cultural, sociological, psychological, political and linguistic dimensions of education, teaching and learning; preparing you not just for professional qualifications in teaching and the education sector, but for a range of other professional opportunities. This course offers both academic rigour and professional relevance. Our experienced staff deliver a programme of study that will allow you to develop a thorough and expert understanding of education in a national and global context. You will draw upon a range of perspectives and disciplines to get to grips with the complex and varied nature of learning, schooling and education. You will be given the opportunity to explore these ideas and apply knowledge through supported placements and research projects. Work experience placements are an integral part of the course and can be negotiated in a variety of settings such as hospices, childrens centre charities, PRUs, prisons, youth, social work & schools and other relevant settings. This course offers a chance to develop a thorough and expert understanding of education in a national and global context. It draws upon a range of perspectives and disciplines - sociological, psychological, historical, philosophical, international and political - to get to grips with the complex and varied nature of learning, schooling and education. Students will be given the opportunity to explore these ideas and apply their knowledge through supported placements and research projects.

Free Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health Check: Due to the professional nature of this course you are also required to complete a Declaration of Health and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. We will coordinate both of these non-academic conditions with you should you accept an offer with us. There will be no cost for the DBS this is free to applicants who have secured a Conditional offer and have chosen to study at the University of Wolverhampton.
