Take the first step into developing your career within sports coaching, sport and physical activity development, or Physical Education. Our 1-year Certificate in Higher Education supports both your academic and professional development. Designed to prepare you for continuing your academic journey and employment within the sport coaching and Physical Education sector, this programme combines up-to-date theory with innovative practices and vocational experiences. It will take you on a year-long journey, from discovering and exploring your own personal learning philosophy, to learning how to apply your theoretical understanding in a range of practical settings including Schools, professional teams and recognised athletic institutions. Important strands in the programme include understanding human anatomy, sport and exercise psychology and how to develop innovative and inclusive practices in sports coaching and Physical Education, including the coaching cycle, from curriculum design and planning, to delivering and reflecting on your practice. You will have opportunities throughout the programme to develop your professional practice, with learning experiences that are both varied and challenging, encouraging you to develop problem-solving skills and innovative approaches, in applied coaching contexts. In addition to applied practice, you will learn and develop key academic skills such as essay writing, presentation skills, critical thinking, independent study and researching. You will recognise and record your professional development, knowledge and expertise, undertaking activities such as reflective practice and communities of practice. You will experience a range of working environments integrated into your study programme, which will enable you to work independently with individuals and groups, with a variety of assessment methods to support the development of both academic and industry-related skills including written assessments, group and individual presentations and practical. Looking ahead, the Certificate in Higher Education sets the academic foundation, in which you can progress into industry with a recognised academic certification. Alternatively, you may wish to continue your studies and progress onto the Level 5 to complete the Foundation degree in Applied Sports Coaching and Physical Education, in which this pathway will build upon your theoretical and applied knowledge and practises, with an opportunity to progress into industry or onto a BSc Level 6 academic programme. **Open Days Why not visit our one of Campuses at an Open Day..
