Course summary

Artificial intelligence is changing our homes, workplaces and lifestyles. Our course lets you explore this subject with optional modules in intelligent agents, autonomous systems, machine learning, and human-AI interaction. You'll take part in a group project in year two which prepares you for creating the computer systems of the future. Many projects are in collaboration with industry. Previous students have worked with Capital One, Experian, IBM and UniDays. All these companies have offices in Nottingham. This project is great for your CV and can help you make contacts ready for when you start your career. You may recognise some of our tutors from the Computerphile YouTube series. Modules

In the first year, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. This will give you a broad knowledge of the field, such as AI search techniques, data mining, and ethics. You will learn the foundations of computer science. This will include modules on programming languages such as C, Java and Haskell. In your second year, you will study more advanced modules in artificial intelligence. This will build on your knowledge from the first year. You'll learn about topics such as AI techniques and algorithm efficiency. Optional modules are also available for you to study topics that you are personally interested in. These include human-computer interaction or C++ programming. Year three offers a wide range of flexibility. We offer lots of optional modules so you can choose what you study and tailor your degree to your own interests.
