Studying Business Management BA at Keele will provide you with the business acumen and diverse skillset required to pursue a career in a wide range of sectors. You will gain an insight and understanding of the interesting intricacies of business organisations, including how they operate, the different strategies they use, how they are impacted by global issues alongside evaluating contemporary developments in the field of management. You will be encouraged to improve your critical thinking and build your confidence in challenging the different business management concepts you will be introduced to on the programme. Modules on the course not only aim to develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving but also enhance your knowledge of fundamental areas of contemporary business and management including policy, strategy, markets, customers, finance, and information technology. Core modules during year one focus on key subjects such as accounting where you will explore key principles including balance sheets and budgeting and further your knowledge in about financial statements and develop your experience in preparing and examining these. You will also study the world of work and management, gain an introduction to the essentials of marketing, develop your international business knowledge, and broaden your understanding of managing people in the context of social change. You will have the option to select optional modules that cover a wide range of business-related topics. These range from electives on quantitative methods, microeconomics, macroeconomics and human resource management to the global business environment, consumer behaviour and the opportunity to learn more about managing in organisations by working with other students to find a solution to a business problem set by a multinational corporation.
