Course summary

The MSc Biomedical Science programme will provide a multi-disciplinary perspective of the current and developing field of pathology, medical genetics and disease management. This programme will provide students with a broad foundation of scientific knowledge regarding to human health and disease of importance in modern day diagnostics. Modules are designed to deliver both cutting edge theoretical and practical experience and students will be taught how to investigate various medical conditions including cancer, toxicological insult, food poisoning, anaemia, meningitis and cardiac disease. Successful graduates from the degree will have developed not only specialist subject specific skills but a broad range of highly relevant transferable skills required for knowledge communication, professional report and scientific writing, and independent and group presentations using a wide range of media and formats.


Entry requirements

Academic route entry: applicants will have attained, or be on track to attain 2:2 BSc degree (or higher), in a biomedically related life sciences subject, from a recognised Higher Education Institution. English language level. IELTS (or equivalent) overall 6.0 or above, with no individual element lower than 5.5. N.B In order to practice in a NHS laboratory as a state registered Biomedical Scientist, an accredited Biomedical Science undergraduate degree will first be required.
