Meet people from all over the world in our London location as you immerse yourself in new languages and cultures. With the world more interconnected than ever before – from the online world of social media to working in multinational businesses – being able to speak different languages is invaluable. You can choose whether to study French, German, Spanish, Russian or a combination of two languages. No previous knowledge is needed as we tailor each lesson to your level, from beginner to near-native speaker. Taught by our research-led academics, you’ll learn from their range of specialisms. Benefit from their industry experience, including briefing the UK government on cultural transfers, interpreting in the UN sessions, and consulting on historical films. You'll put your language skills into practice in our interactive and engaging Language Labs. You’ll also have an amazing opportunity to spend your year abroad in a country where your main language is spoken.
Modules
Levels: beginner, post-GCSE, post A-level, native/heritage speaker You’ll take a (French, German, Spanish or Russian) language module every year, streamed according to entry level. Our Culture and Language module will equip you with the skills to analyse and write about literary, visual, and conceptual texts , as well as some basics of linguistics, enabling you to apply those methods to the specific cultures and languages that interest you, and preparing you for the kinds of modules you can choose in your second and final years. You will also take a further module focusing on your specified language. In later years, you’ll choose from a wide range of modules. Our full list of modules may be found on our website. Assessment method
Assessment typically includes a combination of written exams and coursework, final-year dissertations, independent projects and creative journals.
