Course summary

Our Integrated Foundation Year course is the ideal choice for a student looking to pursue an undergraduate degree in the creative arts. It will give you the grounding, tools, practical skills and confidence to succeed in your chosen Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at CSVPA with an enhanced knowledge and understanding of specialist techniques and materials. You will take this one year course before progressing onto one of our Bachelor of Arts courses at CSVPA. This initial year is designed to allow you to explore a broad range of media, approaches and concepts in arts and design, and to develop your own distinctive voice and direction for future success in your chosen BA pathway. Over the year, you will be introduced to a variety of creative disciplines such as:

  • 2D and 3D design
  • Photography
  • Graphics and Illustration
  • Fine Art
  • Fashion and Textiles
  • Painting, Drawing and Printmaking
  • Animation and Film
You will enjoy learning through studio-based projects, specialist workshops, group critiques and frequent tutorial sessions to aid your development of critical thinking, research and academic skills embedded in the course. With our small class sizes, you will have individual, hands-on support from our experienced tutors – giving you the guidance you need to explore your creative potential. Please click the following link to find out more about this course: https://www.csvpa.com/course/ba-hons-fashion-branding-creative-communication/ WHAT TO EXPECT YEAR ONE In your first year you will be introduced to the subject and explore your own visual communications, including layouts, art direction with styling, photography and content curation with digital and print media. You will also be introduced to fashion promotion, PR and fashion branding all within a global and contemporary context. YEAR TWO In your second year you will advance your skills learnt in year one and examine the possible futures of the industry and the positioning of your personal practice within the fashion world. You explore the current shifts towards sustainability, technology and inclusivity and explore creatively modes to communicate positive change. You will have your first briefs from industry professionals and will be tasked to create projects for their brand. This could include pop-up events, lookbook creation, online promotional activity and printed outputs. You will learn professional strategies such as the creation of self-promotional materials and your portfolio. YEAR THREE In your final year you will focus on your own areas of interest and orientate yourself towards the world of work. Final year specialisms will vary from digital and experiential campaign creation, event management, brand strategies and new product launches to production of trend and colour books, branded look-books, magazines and more.

Sponsorship information

Please note that it is not possible for students from Wales to get a loan from Student Finance Wales to study on an undergraduate course at CSVPA. Like other small providers, CSVPA elected not to apply for designation with HEFCW. Be assured CSVPA continue to maintain good standing with the OfS and will return to designation HEFCW when the requirements for designation with Student Finance Wales and Student Finance England are more aligned.
