Course summary
This course will help you develop critical awareness of current problems and gain new insights into the fields of dental public health, behavioural sciences and oral health promotion. You will acquire a comprehensive, critical understanding of the techniques applicable to the practice of dental public health. Learn how to evaluate methodologies, develop critiques of them and where appropriate propose new methods to advance the practice of dental public health to reduce oral health inequalities. Learn how evidence-based practice relates to healthcare, including navigation of the components of the global evidence ecosystem. Explore methods used in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of research and service evaluation projects as applied to healthcare. The course is delivered by a range of experienced staff including Consultants and Specialists in Dental Public Health and Public Health, senior academics, and active dental public health researchers, including from NHS Education for Scotland (NES). Visiting external speakers will provide workshops and guest lectures in a wide range of related topics.
