Are you fascinated by all periods of history? Explore political, cultural and social changes from ancient Greece and Rome to the present day on this joint honours Ancient History and History degree. You will study topics such as politics, empire, gender, slavery, warfare, religion, art and science. This degree helps you draw connections across the ancient, medieval, early modern and modern periods, deepening your understanding of the development of societies over time. As a joint honours student, you’ll develop key professional and transferable skills through both subjects. As an Ancient History and History student, you will:
- develop skills in historical enquiry and critical analysis
- engage with a wide range of primary source material, including texts and artefacts
- explore how ancient and historical societies connect and shape our understanding of contemporary issues
