Problems like climate change, inequality and the ethics of AI can’t be solved by one subject alone. We need an interdisciplinary approach. At LIS, we teach students how to tackle complex, real-world problems by applying knowledge and skills from various disciplines across the arts and sciences. From coding to videography, machine learning to project management, and data science to public speaking, our curriculum is designed to break down barriers and foster a more integrated approach to problem-solving. As an LIS student, you’ll be part of the exciting journey of building a new university in Whitechapel, East London. You’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in establishing processes, clubs, societies, events and traditions. For example, ‘LIS Lates’, a career-focused event series, documentary film nights with directors, urban exploration sessions and more! Entry requirements
A 2:1 or above in an undergraduate degree from the UK (or the international equivalent) in any subject. Applicants who do not fulfil the normal entry requirements but have extensive professional experience in a related area are considered on an individual basis. All LIS programmes are taught in English. To derive full benefit from and succeed in passing our programmes, you must be able to understand and express yourself in English (reading and listening, speaking and writing). International students seeking LIS sponsorship to study in the UK will need to pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) as specified below. These tests must have been passed within two years of application to the programme. If a student is in the UK, they must complete one of the following SELTs, to the stated standard: - IELTS for UKVI (provider: IELTS SELT Consortium; minimum of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component) - LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (provider: LanguageCert; minimum of 33 in each component) Page 9 of 28 - PTE Academic (provider: Pearson; minimum of 66 overall, with a minimum of 60 in each component) - Integrated Skills in English (provider: Trinity College London; pass in each component) If a student is outside the UK, they must take a SELT with one of the following providers: - IELTS for UKVI (provider: IELTS SELT Consortium; minimum of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component) - LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (provider: LanguageCert; minimum of 33 in each component) - PTE Academic (provider: Pearson; minimum of 66 overall, with a minimum of 60 in each component) - Skills for English UKVI (provider: PSI Services (UK) Ltd; pass in each component The UK Government states that students can prove their knowledge of English by EITHER a SELT, or having a GCSE, A Level, Scottish National Qualification level 4 or 5, Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher in English, gained through study at a UK school that a student began when they were under 18. Additional fee information
**Home fees students**
The tuition fee for Home students enrolling at LIS full-time in 2024 is £11,800.
The tuition fee for Home students enrolling at LIS part-time in 2024 is £5,900 per year for a total of £11,800 over two years.
This fee applies to students who are classified as Home Students according to the rules out by UKCISA.
**International fees students**
The tuition fee for International students enrolling at LIS full-time in 2024 is £19,000.
The tuition fee for International students enrolling at LIS part-time in 2024 is £9,500 per year for a total of £19,000 over two years.
We hold a sponsorship licence and are able to accept applications from international students.
**Additional Information**
You’ll be charged tuition fees for every academic year you study at LIS. This fee covers all elements of your registration, enrolment, tuition, supervision and assessment for the full academic year. It doesn’t cover living costs, books, materials (including a laptop), or travel.
Please note that in order to access the programme, you’ll need your own portable computer device uploaded with Microsoft Office (Student Version). If owing to personal circumstances you cannot purchase a personal device, LIS has a “laptop bank” to provide for students who have a short-term device requirement. Sponsorship information
We want to make sure that you’re given every opportunity to succeed at LIS and we know that everyone’s situation is different. So that we can provide financial support to meet different needs, we have a number of different forms of financial support for our students. If you receive any of the financial support listed below you will never need to pay anything back. **Home Fees Students** **Bursary** For students in hardship, LIS may offer master’s bursaries in the form of a partial fee discount. If you apply, you may be required to provide evidence. You can enquire about a bursary by emailing [email protected]. **Emergency grants** We know that you can hit an emergency while you’re at LIS. To try and support you in these situations, we have a dedicated fund for hardship grants for enrolled students, which are decided on a case-by-case basis. **International Fees Students** **International Scholarships** We’re offering 2 types of scholarships for 2024 entry: - Early LIS Scholarship - LIS PG Innovation Scholarship They’re open to all students classed as ‘international’ for fees, and hold an offer for our programme.
