Course summary

The world of Finance has evolved rapidly over the past few years with the emphasis on digitalisation and technological innovations giving birth to a new discipline known as Financial Technology. Financial Technology, popularly known as FinTech, spreads across diverse areas such as lending, digital banking, blockchain, cryptocurrency, digital currency, regtech, alternative finance, artificial intelligence and machine learning in finance. Our MSc Financial Technology programme aims to address the gaps between digital banking and traditional banking services as well as offer you the most current financial and technical skills required for you to succeed in the fast-growing FinTech industry. On this programme, you will gain an understanding of current developments in FinTech and Digital Banking and will be provided with the relevant hard and soft skills in areas such as FinTech, Digital Banking, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, RegTech, Financial Risk Management, Finnovation, Fintrepreneurship and FinTech Data Analytics. You’ll learn how to critically analyse real-world data using a range of analytical tools and techniques and will acquire quantitative, analytical, and programming skills. The latest market trends and needs around regulation, risk and how technology could better serve the financial services industry will be also explored. Studying in Leeds, the FinTech Capital of the North, offers you the opportunity to learn, collaborate and network with Fintech professionals on live projects. Assessment method

We use a range of assessment methods throughout the course, which include: Assignments, group work, presentations, lab-based and closed book exams.


Entry requirements

An honours degree (2:2 or above) in any discipline. Applicants with significant professional/business experience (at least three years at management level) will be considered following a short interview. Minimum English Language entry requirements: IELTS Academic 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any component) or equivalent.
