Course summary

The programme will cover the breadth of mental health problems seen across the life-span, exploring issues relating to child mental health, adult disorders and the increasing challenges of caring for individuals in old age. Specifically, this programme acknowledges the increasingly varied scope of professional roles and responsibilities within the expanding fields of mental health and wider psychological wellbeing and will be focused around themes of understanding current issues and associated professional roles, application and improvement.

Year One – Level 4 (Cert HE) • An Introduction to Research Methods (20 credits; compulsory) • Children’s Mental Health and Development (20 credits; compulsory) • Introduction to Mental Health (20 credits; compulsory) • Learning in the Digital Era (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module) • Professional Skills for Mental Health (20 credits; compulsory) • Stress, Coping and Resilience (20 credits; compulsory).
