Course summary
This course is ideal for those that are interested in either a general career in computing, or a specialised career in networking and cyber security. You are able to select two of four optional modules to create the course that best fits your specific needs! The optional modules include systems development, web API’s, advanced networking, and digital forensics. This course can open different doors for you depending on module choices you make, employment opportunities include software developer, website developer, applications developer, network engineer and forensic analyst. As part of our work ready guarantee you will have access to our dedicated networking lab. The networking lab has Its has its own private internal network that you are able to configure to build your own network, you will also have access to some of the latest industry standard hardware and software. Our courses are carefully constructed to allow you to build knowledge and skills progressively during your degree programme. We constantly update our curriculum to ensure that it covers the latest developments in your subject area, including the research and professional experience that your tutors bring to the course. Our course teams also draw on the wealth of experience provided by our professional contacts and highly successful alumni who feed into the design of our courses and provide master classes and workshops to enrich your learning. This course is for those that have recently completed a foundation degree or HND in computing related studies. The BSc (Hons) Computing programme offers optional modules that allows you to select either a networking and cyber security pathway or a more generalised computing pathway. On completion of this programme you can progress onto a Masters (MSc) and further specialise in your selected area of computing or move into employment within the industry. This course will develop your skills to allow for a career in website development, software development, IT management, IT consultancy, teaching and IT training roles or other related industries.

Assessment method
You will learn through a variety of teaching and learning methods including written practical assignments, a work-based project, presentations, peer work and independent study. Assessment is carried out through in-course technical reports, presentations, case-studies, peer assessment, practical based assignments, projects and time-constrained assessments in addition to your dissertation or project.
