This practical degree will prepare you to shape the world's future by combining an excellent foundation in all aspects of Civil Engineering with the hands-on experience that employers are looking for. You'll study key topics including structural engineering, design, construction, geotechnics, hydraulics, and building information modelling (BIM), with an emphasis on their real-world applications. That means we treat you like a trainee engineer from day one, providing access to industry-standard technology on campus – including state-of-the-art labs for materials testing, fluid dynamics, 3D printing, robotics and more – plus the chance to forge industry connections with leading firms. Think the likes of Spencer Group, ABP, Siemens, Orsted and Smith & Nephew. The Foundation Year is an extra year of study at the start of your degree. The foundation year is designed for applicants whose qualifications and experience do not allow direct entry to the undergraduate degree. We expect applicants to demonstrate an experience of a related subject and an aptitude for academic work which may be determined by an essay and/or interview alongside the application. For applicants with Level 3 qualifications, we will usually require a minimum of 80 points. Applicants from outside of the EU who require a foundation year are instead invited to apply for the Undergraduate Foundation Year offered by our partner provider ONCampus Hull tailored to your needs.
