Course summary

This four-year course with an integrated foundation year leads to the same qualification as our three-year honours degree. It has been specifically designed for those wanting to undertake degree-level study but who may not meet the entry requirements or have traditional qualifications. The additional foundation year helps you better prepare for degree-level study, giving you a taste of learning at this higher level. On successful completion, you will join Year 1 of the BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance programme. Our Economics and Finance degree develops your knowledge of financial management and skills in logic, analysis, statistics and maths. You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of areas such as financial markets, investment and portfolio management, corporate finances, international economics and trade, behavioural finance, financial techniques and analysis, and economic modelling. During the foundation year, you’ll develop essential academic and IT skills, such as writing, communication, presentation and how to use digital resources to support your studies and research assignments. You will get a taste of studying within a multidisciplinary School, working with foundation students from a range of other subjects, including accounting, management and marketing. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
