FdEng in Motorsport Engineering Level 4/5 London South Bank University Partnership Campus: Weybridge What is the course about? As with most Foundation Degrees, the course is primarily for people who are currently working in a related field who wish to gain a higher level qualification in recognition of their skills and knowledge or who would like to build on existing expertise. It is anticipated that a portion of the course will be linked to work-based learning or to work place simulations. We have extensive employer links which allow for the course to be tailored to meet industry needs and current practice. This means that our students are better prepared for the world of work by the end of the course. Full Time Course Length 2 years, 3 days per week Course code Indicative Programme Structure Full-Time Year 1 In Year 1 you must pass six module credits at Level 4. Each single module carries 20 CAT points so this means that when you complete Year 1 you will have 120 CAT points at Level 4. Year 2 In Year 2 you must pass six module credits at level 5 (120 CAT points). Level 3 diplomas, GCE A Levels, Access to HE qualification in a relevant subject. Interview for those working or having suitable experience in the industry. How is the course assessed? Each unit of the Foundation Degree comes with assignment work that you would predominantly do in your own time. Some units include tests and exams as well as written assignments. Once your assignments have been marked you will achieve either a pass, merit or distinction grade for each assignment and subsequently the unit. Are there any extra costs? Fees: Home £5995 per year Please note tuition fees may increase in subsequent years both for new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by government. Equipment: • Pens, pencils, ruler, protractor, compass, eraser, lined paper and a ring binder • Steel or composite toe safety shoes or boots • One piece engineering overalls • Safety glasses are provided • Boots and overalls = Approximately £50 • Text books = You will be informed of any non-compulsory text books to support the course on enrolment. Each student will receive a print allowance at the start of their course, should they require additional printing beyond this limit, they will be charged.
