The Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is the graduate entry route to those who want to become a Primary or Secondary teacher in Scotland. The PGDE is an internationally recognised qualification, newly qualified teachers will be able to apply for qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent in their home country. Why PGDE Business Education at Strathclyde? This course is a professional training course which qualifies you to teach secondary education. The qualification is recognised throughout the world and is regulated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and the Scottish Government. You learn from on-campus classes and 18 weeks of placements in schools in Scotland. The qualification allows you to teach in locations worldwide. If you're a Scottish, rest of UK or EU student, you're guaranteed a job for one year in a Scottish school after you graduate. Our PGDE in Business Education course will prepare you for a bright career educating tomorrow’s accountants, lawyers, business analysts, social media experts and marketing professionals. Business education teachers are often the ‘go to’ teachers for technological innovation and advice. Therefore, the course uses a range of applications and digital platforms, and you will be supported to develop your own skills in using these with pupils. You will have the opportunity to undertake the Microsoft Innovative Educator and Apple Teacher awards on this course. An honours degree in business and management, or international equivalent. Degree must include: a minimum of 40 SCQF credits at SCQF Level 7 or above, and 40 SCQF credits at SCQF Level 8 or above, from at least two and preferably all three of the following subjects: - Accounting - Economics - Business Management, for example, marketing, human resources, management IT qualification Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of study within eight years of the course start date related to relevant Information Technology Skills. Alternatively applicants must be able to demonstrate recent use in industry of Microsoft Office packages.

Additional fee information
Undergraduate students who live in Scotland will usually have their tuition fees paid by the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). If you have previously attended university or college or are not sure about your eligibility, you should contact SAAS to check your eligibility to have your fees paid. SAAS will pay your tuition fees directly to Strathclyde.
Most undergraduate students from the rest of the UK (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) will receive a free year of tuition as, assuming no change in Rest of UK fees policy over the period, the total amount payable by undergraduate students will be capped. For students commencing study next session, this is capped at £27,750. Students studying on Integrated Masters degree programmes pay an additional £9,250 for the Masters year with the exception of those undertaking a full-year industrial placement where a separate placement fee will apply.
