Course summary

Develop the critical understanding and practical skills needed to solve engineering problems creatively. Develop and implement solutions to engineering problems in renewable energy capture and sustainable design systems. Throughout this course, you will make use of lab and field-testing facilities for measuring and monitoring the performance of different renewable energy systems, such as wind turbines, photovoltaic power systems and heat pumps. You will also learn to use tools for component and system design, simulation of the performance and monitoring of renewable energy systems. These tools include Matlab/Simulink, GH WindFarmer and WAsP for wind farm design, PVsyst for photovoltaic system design and Labview for system monitoring. You’ll also have the option to experience a Professional/Work Placement in addition to the taught course. Why study with us

International applicants

This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

Entry requirements

Honours degree in relevant scientific, engineering and technology subjects, grade 2:1 or above Grade 2:2 is also considered if there is evidence of good mathematical background and/or relevant industrial/engineering experience IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
