The University of Chester’s PGCert in Conservation and Sustainability Education, developed in partnership with Chester Zoo, is designed for individuals who aspire to create change through meaningful learning experiences and contribute to a more sustainable world. This course will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to create and lead impactful conservation initiatives that align with global sustainability goals. Whether you’re already working in the industry or looking to begin your journey, you’ll gain the confidence to design and deliver education programmes that make a lasting difference. Make an impact through learning Throughout the course, you’ll develop a strong understanding of how education can be used to make an impact. You’ll explore how to effectively create programmes and initiatives that empower individuals to be part of the change that tackle the issues we face every day. Using the latest technology, you’ll be taught by a team of experienced academics and connect with peers from around the world. You’ll share knowledge and experiences, gaining insights into some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges. These perspectives will enrich your learning and broaden your professional network. Flexible study around your schedule This course is designed with flexibility, enabling you to balance your studies with your existing professional and personal commitments. Taught through live online sessions, teaching is delivered over two weekends each term, where you’ll attend Friday evenings and all-day Saturday. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a professional placement, allowing you to apply your learning to real scenarios and build experience that will help you to prepare for your future career. It’s possible to study alongside full-time employment to enhance your current skills in a range of settings, including zoos, aquariums, conservation or education. Define your future This PGCert is aligned with the WAZA Conservation Education Strategy. Following successful completion, graduates are prepared to progress into roles within a variety of diverse settings, such as zoos, the National Trust, the Wildlife Trust, forestry commission, schools, and much more.
