Course summary
Building on the foundational knowledge from the Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC), students will develop advanced skills in construction management, project planning, and technical design. Those following the Construction Site Supervisor pathway focus on site logistics and supervision, maintenance and operations as well as practical site-based management. Whilst sharing many common units, the Construction Design and Build pathway specialises in advanced construction drawing and detailing, BIM and digital tools and, complex building design. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to understand, evaluate, and apply advanced construction technologies used in the design and delivery of complex building projects. This includes the integration of innovative materials, structural systems, and sustainable methods to address the challenges of modern construction environments. You will also develop skills to measure, quantify and prepare detailed cost estimates for complex construction works using industry-standard methods and digital tools. This includes accuracy, compliance with measurement standards and the application of advanced techniques to support effective cost control and project planning. Exploration of environmentally responsible construction practices, focusing on reducing carbon emissions, conserving resources and enhancing building performance will take place. You will evaluate and apply sustainable technologies, materials and methods that align with current environmental standards and industry best practices. Having completed Level 6, students may choose to study a Level 6 top-up undergraduate degree such as: BSc Construction Design BSc Architectural Technology BSc Construction Management Having completed Level 6, students may choose to study a Level 6 top-up undergraduate degree such as: BSc Construction Design BSc Architectural Technology BSc Construction Management One year-12 hours per week For further information please email [email protected] Although every care has been taken to ensure that the information contained within this document is accurate, there may be changes to this programme and provision.
