The Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) PCET is for you if you have a subject qualification and are looking to gain a nationally recognised teaching qualification to work in further education and the broader post-compulsory sector. On the course, you will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of successful practice in post-compulsory Education and your confidence as a professional practitioner.
Modules
Modules include: Preparing to Teach Learning and Applying Pedagogy Professional Practice The Role of ICT in Further Education Blended Learning Applications Enhancing Learning, Teaching and Assessment.
Assessment method
You will have to complete written assignments, practical assessments, reflective journals and a poster presentation as you progress through the programme. Your teaching will be observed during both academic years.

Qualification requirements
The typical entry requirements for this course are a Level 3 qualification relevant to the subject specialism and GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths. Students will need to undertake teaching practice of a minimum of 70 hours each year and must have this arranged before enrolling on the course. Students will be expected to complete an online skills check at interview. This programme requires an enhanced DBS check, charged at an additional cost to the student.
