Course summary
You will study the art of Musical Theatre performance and develop skills in acting with specialist acting tutors and skills in dance with specialist dance tutors alongside contextual modules enriching your knowledge of the genre. Individual vocal tuition is a significant part of this programme of study, with experienced staff drawn from our resource of more than 40 specialist vocal teachers. Our ensembles are involved in a lot of performance work along with a rich programme of concerts, recitals and master classes by visiting artists. The programme will include participation in a staged production. You will study in the University of Chichester Conservatoire, which has one of the largest and liveliest performance departments in the UK with a community of over 1,000 student performers. Facilities including well equipped practice rooms with more than 60 pianos supplied by Steinway and sons and an acoustically superb performance venue. You will explore the work of specialists in your own performance field, develop a lecture recital and research relevant areas of repertoire and performance practice. Your dissertation will be participation in a staged work or of a curated selection of scenes from the Musical Theatre repertoire. All students will take part in a finalist showcase programme designed to connect them with industry representation and to facilitate broader career aspirations in relevant fields.
