Modules
Year 1 In your first year you’ll build solid engineering foundations through maths, programming, electronics and electrical power, learning how each area works in real systems. You’ll apply these skills in hands-on projects that develop your design thinking, problem-solving and confidence with emerging technologies such as AI. Core modules Engineering Mathematics Engineering Practice Introduction to Electrical Engineering Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Embedded Systems 1 Analogue and Digital Electronics Year 2 In the second year you will deepen your expertise by exploring how systems move, sense, think and respond in real time. You’ll apply this knowledge through advanced design, embedded tech and AI projects that push your engineering skills into industry-ready territory. Core modules Intelligent Systems Dynamics and Control Electrical Engineering 2 Sensors and Actuators Engineering Design Embedded Systems 2 Optional Placement Year By doing a year placement in industry you’ll gain work experience, confidence and contacts for your future career. Our students have been on placement with companies including Rolls-Royce, National Rail and General Electric. Year 3 In your third year you’ll develop your expertise by tackling complex robotics, control and human-machine interaction challenges that mirror real engineering environments. You will bring everything together through advanced design, communication systems and a major independent project that demonstrates your readiness for industry. Core modules Advanced Control Systems Human Robotic Interaction Product Design Advanced Robotic Communications Individual Project Final year In your final year you’ll step into advanced technical and management practice, developing skills in communication systems, cyber security and engineering leadership. You’ll apply these skills in professional projects and a major team challenge that shows how you solve complex real-world problems together. Core modules Engineering Management Cyber Security Professional Development Communication Systems Major Team Project
