Are you considering a career as an academic or professional researcher? Are you a recent graduate who has already taken up a career but want to develop your research methods skills and practice? This masters-level course is designed to train you across social science disciplines in research methods skills and practice. Our Social Research Methods MSc provides extensive, in-depth postgraduate training and provides you with a solid foundation for doctoral studies and further research work as academics, or career development as professional researchers. The course is particularly relevant for those considering applying for an ESRC-accredited PhD programme in social policy or business studies. It includes core and intermediate-level research methods modules as well as the opportunity to study creative, innovative and advanced research methods. If you do not wish to study for a masters, there are exit awards available for postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma.
Entry requirements
Degree and experience 2:1 honours degree in any social science discipline. English language requirements IELTS 6.5 overall, with 7.0 in writing. You must have taken the test in the last two years. As this is a research degree programme applicants must provide a brief outline of their proposed area of study (ie discipline and/or sub-discipline) and research topic in their online application.
