Course summary
The new Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Medical Education for Healthcare Professionals is designed as an international programme for healthcare professionals across the globe who wish to work with leading experts to enhance their roles as clinical or academic teachers. As healthcare becomes ever more complex, there is a recognised need for evidence-based education. Health regulators require those entrusted with the planning and delivery of clinical education to be familiar with the latest research on effective teaching and learning strategies. It is no longer enough for clinicians to understand their specialist area. To effectively engage the next generation of clinicians, they need to be able to apply accepted principles of adult learning, curriculum design, assessment, and educational research. The University of Warwick PG Certificate, PG Diploma and Masters in Medical Education for Healthcare Professionals awards are designed as an international, interprofessional programme for clinicians across the globe who wish to work with leading experts to enhance their roles as clinical or academic educators. Created and delivered by globally recognised leaders in medical education, the programme has three exit awards, but the most common exit points for students are: A Postgraduate Certificate following completion of Modules 1 -3. This meets the minimum qualification standards that most health regulators require of those in education or training roles. The Pg Certificate provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the essentials of health professions education, effective teaching methodologies, and assessment techniques. A Master of Science following completion of Modules 1 – 7. Following on from the Pg Certificate, the Masters qualification develops capability across a broader range of topics and applies advanced research skills, develops greater insights into professional development as an educator and prepares participants for leadership, research, or other advanced roles in medical education. This programme is delivered in partnership with iheed, a leading online medical education organisation. The partnership brings together Warwick’s academic excellence and iheed’s unrivalled expertise in online health professions education. This synergy creates a transformative learning journey with student support at its heart. Using ground-breaking online technology, the practical application of evidence-based teaching and assessment strategies prepares candidates to excel in the design, delivery, and assessment of learning in their healthcare setting. Developed and taught by world-leading medical education experts, this programme will enhance your knowledge and skills as an educator and give you the confidence to apply them in your own professional practice.
