Football Coaching, Performance and Development at Edinburgh Napier University - UCAS

Course summary

This is a new programme in collaboration with the Scottish FA, starting in September 2020. The entry requirements for the programme are the same as our current suite of Sport programmes with the additional requirement that you have the following relevant coaching award, Scottish FA 1.1 Introduction to Coaching and Scottish FA Children’s Wellbeing Coaching Award. This is a unique programme which has SFA and UEFA coaching awards embedded into the modules. These coaching awards do come at an extra cost, but are subsidised.

Entry requirements

Standard Qualification Requirements

In addition to the above academic requirements you require the following three football specific awards prior to course commencement; Scottish FA Mental Health Award AND Scottish FA Children’s Wellbeing Coaching Award. Minimum Year 2 Entry Requirements HNC Pass in a related subject* with A in Graded Unit at Level 7 *Sports Coaching with Development of Sport, Sports Coaching and Development In addition to the above academic requirements you require the following football specific awards prior to course commencement; UEFA C Licence (or equivalent, such as the Scottish FA C Licence) Minimum Year 3 Entry Requirements HND Pass in a related subject* with A in Graded Unit at Level 8 *Sports Coaching with Development of Sport, Sports Coaching and Development In addition to the above academic requirements you require the following football specific awards prior to course commencement; UEFA B Licence

In addition to meeting the academic criteria, applicants will normally be expected to demonstrate in their personal statement that they have relevant coaching experience showing a commitment to a career in this industry. Where applicants do not meet the academic criteria, extensive coaching experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of formal qualifications.
