Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year Abroad at University of Nottingham - UCAS

Course summary

Electrical and electronic engineers design, develop, test and oversee new technologies. This can be to generate and process power as well as to create anything from drones and electric cars to the technology in smartphones, sat navs and systems in hospitals. Our course will give you the required engineering expertise for a career in engineering or in a variety of other professions. Through lab-based projects, working individually and in small teams, you'll bring together your numerical, analytical and technical knowledge to problem solve different situations. During your second year, you can study at either our China or Malaysia campus where you will have the opportunity to experience differing cultures. The curriculum is exactly the same as that of the UK and all teaching is in English. Your year will be spent studying core modules, and depending on the subject specialisms you have selected, appropriate optional modules. All undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common programme of study, allowing them to change to a different plan up until the end of their third semester in year two. It is also possible to add or remove a year abroad and year in industry after joining the course. By year three, you can choose to specialise in the topics that interest you and suit your career aspirations. Why choose this course?

  • 10th in the UK for electrical and electronic engineering (The Guardian University Guide 2025) and 9th in the UK for electrical and electronic engineering (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025)
  • Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology
  • Practical lab-based sessions to help you develop skills for your future career
  • Customise your degree to suit your interests with a wide selection of optional modules
