One of the great advantages of this course is that it’s designed for non-computer science graduates, meaning you don’t need a background in computing to join. The programme offers a solid introduction to the fundamental skills needed to start a career in AI and Data Science. From programming to working with large datasets, the course prepares you to step confidently into the tech world, no matter what you’ve studied before. This programme also focuses on practical applications, helping you understand how AI for business can drive innovation and solve challenges in sectors like healthcare, finance, and retail. There is growing demand for experts who can use AI to improve the way businesses work. You’ll explore AI career opportunities across various fields, with an emphasis on staying up to date with the latest technologies. The skills you develop will be valuable throughout your entire career, as the course encourages lifelong learning. Industry experience is a big part of this programme, with opportunities to learn from real-world industry collaboration. This helps you understand what is currently happening in AI and Data Science and gives you a clear idea of where the technology is headed. You will also explore how AI for social progress can be used to address global challenges, like improving healthcare AI or developing AI-driven solutions for environmental issues. The course shows how AI can make a positive difference in society, not just in the business world. This programme offers a future-proof education in a field that is growing rapidly. It provides the skills, knowledge, and practical experience you need to take full advantage of the exciting possibilities in AI and Data Science.

Modules

Our teaching philosophy combines both theory and practical experience, preparing you to excel in the fast-paced fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science. The course is designed to equip you with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to address real-world challenges, ensuring you are ready for a dynamic career in AI. Throughout the year, you will study a range of key modules that provide a comprehensive foundation in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. You’ll learn advanced techniques in Data Mining and Visualisation, Advanced Statistical Programming, Data Security, Governance, and Compliance. You’ll also explore the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms in various contexts. The programme will enhance your research skills through a focused module on Research Methods and Professional Development. The year culminates with a substantial Masters Project, where you will apply your expertise to solve a real-world AI or data-driven problem, preparing you for future AI career opportunities in industry or research. Database Systems (20 credits) Data Mining and Visualisation (20 credits) Advanced Statistical Programming (20 credits) Application of Machine Learning (20 credits) Artificial Intelligence (20 credits) Data Security, Governance and Compliance (20 credits) Master's Project (60 credits) Research Methods and Professional Development (20 credits)

Assessment method

Students’ work is assessed through a combination of coursework, portfolio, lab-based practical exams and written examinations. The final mark for some modules may include one or more pieces of assessment set and completed during the module. Project work is assessed by a written report and oral presentation. Part 2 requires the student to research and prepare an individual project of a substantial nature. University students who are unable to successfully complete all aspects of Part 1 may be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) or Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits).
