The course is designed to equip you with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to address real-world challenges, ensuring you are ready for a dynamic career in AI. Throughout the year, you will study a range of key modules that provide a comprehensive foundation in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. You’ll learn advanced techniques in Data Mining and Visualisation, Advanced Statistical Programming, Data Security, Governance, and Compliance. You’ll also explore the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms in various contexts. The programme will enhance your research skills through a focused module on Research Methods and Professional Development. The year culminates with a substantial Masters Project, where you will apply your expertise to solve a real-world AI or data-driven problem, preparing you for future AI career opportunities in industry or research. Database Systems (20 credits) Data Mining and Visualisation (20 credits) Advanced Statistical Programming (20 credits) Application of Machine Learning (20 credits) Artificial Intelligence (20 credits) Data Security, Governance and Compliance (20 credits) Master's Project (60 credits) Research Methods and Professional Development (20 credits)
Assessment method
Students’ work is assessed through a combination of coursework, portfolio, lab-based practical exams and written examinations. The final mark for some modules may include one or more pieces of assessment set and completed during the module. Project work is assessed by a written report and oral presentation. Part 2 requires the student to research and prepare an individual project of a substantial nature. University students who are unable to successfully complete all aspects of Part 1 may be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) or Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits).
