Course summary
This Games Technologies degree has been developed in collaboration with employers including Sumo Digital, Blazing Griffin and Pocket Money Games and is ideal if you are looking to pursue a career in the gaming industry. You will acquire specialist industry knowledge and learn how to produce blueprints for games, consider how mobile-friendly versions are made and gain the technical expertise to create them. You will have a passion for design and a creative flair, but also possess an analytical mind and want to gain a deeper understanding of the back-end of games and how they are developed. You will use industry standard software and equipment such as VR headsets to support your studies. You will be encouraged to secure a work placement to complement your studies, applying theory to practice in an industry setting. You will benefit from industry insight and guest lectures from employers such as High Tea Frog. You may have the opportunity to attend EGX Rezzed, an annual gaming conference held in London to gain industry insight and to network with potential employers. Once you complete your degree you may decide to continue your studies and progress onto an appropriate Masters degree or PGCE to pursue a career in teaching. You may also choose to seek employment in a range of roles including games developer, games designer, QA tester, animator or asset designer

Assessment method
You will learn through a variety of teaching and learning methods including practical assignments, work-based projects, presentations, vivas, peer work and independent study. Assessment is carried out through written assignments, reports, practical demonstrations, work-based projects, practicals, presentations and exams.
