One of the key benefits of the course is that it enables you to collaborate with fellow students from other specialisms and see first hand how your skills directly feed into the entire production process. You will meet Industry professionals, visiting tutors, alumni and lecturers from a wide range of backgrounds throughout the course during workshops, seminars, visits and on productions. Course Facilities You will have a dedicated course base, fully equipped with Industry standard equipment and resources for creating 2D and 3D graphic design work. As a student of the NFTS, you will also benefit from the largest production facilities at any UK film school, including our cinemas which are used for work-in-progress screenings, as well as exclusive screenings of pre-released films and Masterclasses.

Modules

The first module on the course will give you an introduction into the world of graphic design for film and TV in 2D, and you will be taught an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite. Practical projects will enable you to put this into action as you design and produce a finished storyboard, create a brand identity for a TV programme, and also design a film poster. In the second module, you will be introduced to working in 3D, and receive tuition in After Effects to assist you. In module three, you’ll produce graphics for our TV Summer Multi-cam Project – including a logo, opening title, stings and lower thirds. Then, after a 4-week work placement with Sky, you’ll get practical experience on our School graduation projects, where you’ll get to produce title sequences, incidental on screen graphics and poster and other advertising materials. The final part of the course is our final motion project - the piece of work you produce should work in broadcast and across all forms of digital content. The aim is to create an outstanding motion sequence, a creative culmination of all that you have learnt.

Entry requirements

A graphics design qualification at degree level is beneficial. A portfolio of your work, and interest in graphic design and motion graphics for television and an ability to work to deadlines as part of a team are essential. We are looking for people who can marry good design with moving image computer software skills. While many applicants will have a degree from a British or overseas university, we will consider applicants who do not have a degree if they have an impressive portfolio, a creative track record or an alternative qualification.
