Course summary

This MSc programme explores revolutionary developments in the field of robotics, one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Students will be taught to develop, analyse, programme, integrate and deploy complex robotic and intelligent systems, such as industrial manipulators, autonomous mobile robots, medical robots, robots for extreme environments, wearables and virtual reality technology. Programme highlights:

  • Work in the multi-disciplinary Centre for Advanced Robotics @ Queen Mary (ARQ) - one of the best robotics and intelligent systems research facilities in the UK.
  • Commercially exploit your research, with support from Queen Mary Innovation (QMI) and our industrial partners.
  • Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, enabling you to pursue Chartered Engineer status.
What you'll study This MSc is closely aligned with The Centre for Advanced Robotics at Queen Mary (ARQ), which specialises in human-machine interaction, design and mechatronics, drones, AI and cognition and more. You can expect to gain expertise in design, kinematics, dynamics, control, electronics, programming, signal and data processing, machine learning, and manufacturing technology. A major part of the degree is the individual project, which will be based around the internationally-recognised research taking place at ARQ. Your project will be designed under the supervision of our academic staff, with potential for collaboration with external partners such as Shadow Robot, Ocado, Google, Automata, Kuka, Q-Bot and many others. During your project, you’ll apply the theory from your taught modules, while taking advantage of our excellent facilities and equipment.
