Course summary

If you are an aspiring composer, our music composition degree course will help you to develop the combination of professionalism and strong musicianship skills that you will need to succeed. The course draws on a wide range of cultural influences from the traditional right through to those of the avant garde. We will encourage you to develop an individual and original style of your own in concert composition, jazz and popular music. Through our renowned composition workshops you will have the opportunity to meet and learn from leading composers and performers. The foundation year course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to continue onto your Honours degree. You will study a range of subjects that will underpin your future study and also gain valuable experience of university life, with full access to campus facilities. Successful completion of the year allows you to progress straight onto Level 4 of this course.
