Course summary
Train to be an international business manager and explore topics including global economics, strategic management and accounting and finance This programme will enable you to acquire a broad, robust, and practical knowledge of business administration in a global business context. It also provides the opportunity to focus on one of three specialised areas: The essential knowledge and skills required of international business managers; integrative modules - strategy and research methods – as well as specialist modules; successful completion of your research project, on which you will gain your MSc.
Modules
You will study a selection of core and optional modules in each year. Each module is worth a number of credits and is delivered differently depending on its content and focus of study. This list is indicative and subject to change. Accounting and Finance In this module you will explore the principles of financial accounting, management accounting and investment. Global Economics You will explore managerial economics and focus on markets and companies, international macroeconomics issues and global sustainability. Management On this module you will be introduced to organisational behaviour including personal and inter-personal skills involved in management issues. Marketing This module discusses managing the key elements of marketing strategies including critical assessment of marketing scenarios. International Marketing In this module you will be introduced to practices used in international marketing and focus your studies on multinational companies. International Business On this module you will explore the economic, financial, psychological, sociological, logistical and management issues at an international scale. Research Methods You will develop your research skills and cover approaches, methods and data collection for research in international business, including market research strategies. Strategic Management In this module you will explore the concepts of strategic management in multi-national corporations and smaller businesses. Dissertation Your dissertation project takes place during your last semester. You will work individually with a personal tutor to carry out and report on your own original research. You could focus on any aspect of international business.
Assessment method
You will learn in group discussions and seminars as you develop your subject knowledge and workplace skills. You will be assessed through a range of assignments and finish your course by completing a dissertation.
Entry requirements
An honours degree at third class or higher completed in the medium of English OR IELTS 6.5 minimum (or equivalent) (with no component score under 5.5) and a first degree (at 2:2 equivalent or higher) completed in a language other than English If your English language level is currently IELTS 5.0 to 5.5 you can join our summer pre-sessional English language programmes starting in July and August and then proceed to our MSc International Business. If you do not have a formal IELTS qualification or a first degree in the medium of English please contact us directly for an ‘in-house’ assessment of your language skills.
