Course summary

Start date: 1st October The MRes in Health Informatics is designed for those with experience in health informatics and who want to make a contribution to the field by helping develop the knowledge base. This developing discipline is becoming an increasingly important component of health provision in the 21st Century. Your course builds on the successful MSc in Health Informatics which has been running at Swansea University since 2001. Your two year part-time programme will feature: Focus on primary research Research skills developed through three short modules as you develop your own health informatics research project in the first nine months of the course The second year comprises of supervised completion of a research based thesis The research project may be undertaken within your own place of work The research is supported within an organisation with a strong research reputation and you will have one to one supervision at all stages of the research process Through partnerships with National Health Service (NHS) bodies in Wales, we are able to offer a range of research opportunities Practice-focused learning You will draw on skills from the broader academic community Visit our website for more information on fees, scholarships, postgraduate loans and other funding options to study at Swansea University.


Entry requirements

Admission to this course is normally on the basis of UK Honours degree grade 2.1 or above or an equivalent qualification for overseas applicants. Graduates of any of the following cognate disciplines should consider applying for this course: Healthcare Professionals / Management / Technology; Health Information / Data Management; Medical / Clinical Records / Coding; ICT and Computer / Health / Social / Sports Science; Health Economics; Nursing and Social Work / Care; Business Administration and Management and Application Statistic. Non-graduates are also welcome to apply. All applications are considered on individual merit, taking into account any relevant work experience. Should you have qualifications below the required minimum or lack a suitable first degree, please feel encouraged to submit an application if you have at least two years of experience in health informatics or related fields. English Language requirement IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 6.0 in each part) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.
