Course summary
Aimed at students who have previously studied in performing arts disciplines, this one year course allows those who have a foundation degree to top up their qualification to a full Bachelor's degree with a further year of study. In the first semester you will take core modules alongside students on other performance pathways in order to develop your collaborative and team-working skills, before specialising in your field with a major final performance in the second semester. Validated by The Open University, this exciting new course allows students who have studied in areas including Drama, Musical Theatre and/or Music Performance and Production to develop specialist skills further. Students will study chosen areas in depth whilst gaining a broader understanding of the industry as a whole. The first semester will focus on Professional Practice and students will study alongside students on the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and BA (Hons) Drama top up courses. Students will also complete a minor project which will help in the further development of performance skills, team work and production. Towards the end of the first semester, students will begin work on their specialist route, pre-planning their final major project. Modules have been designed, after discussions with industry specialists, to offer specialist study but also allow a broader context for the subjects, ensuring students are able to cope with an era of convergence in media, music and performing arts generally. You will be studying at Hillsborough campus, where you will be able to take advantage of the recently refurbished facilities, including a fully rigged theatre, Mac editing suites and recording/music studios.
