Course summary
Traditionally in clinical dental care, a treatment focused approach has been taken to tackle oral diseases. This has a limited success. This course aims to improve this by integrating dental public health into the training of dentists who want to work in clinical practice. This one year course will give you the knowledge and skills to make a bigger difference in your patient's oral health and quality of life. As a student of Dental Public Health with Clinical Dentistry at Dundee, you will learn:
- how to undertake health surveillance
- to identify and tackle oral health inequalities
- more impactful upstream approaches for prevention and health promotion
- how to empower individuals and communities to improve their oral health
