Course summary

This course has been developed to enable the education and training for a range of careers in animal management and allied land-based industries. You will study a variety of topics that will form a strong grounding in the field of animal management, such as animal husbandry, health and welfare/animal nursing and animal behaviour. A HND is typically equivalent to the 2nd year of a degree programme, meaning students who successfully complete the course may progress onto a one year top-up course in order to obtain a full Bachelors degree. About the Course This course provides opportunities for full time learners to gain a nationally recognised, vocationally specific Level 5 qualification to enter employment within these industries at supervisory or management level or to progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as a full time degree in animal management or a related subject area. The course is also suitable for people already employed within the animal management sector wishing to develop their skills further. The course provides opportunities for learners to concentrate on the development of higher-level skills in a land-based context and how their role and that of their business fits within the overall structure of the land-based industries, the national and international economy and the global overview.
