Business Management and Japanese Studies at University of Sheffield - UCAS

Course summary

This course combines Japanese language study with developing your knowledge of core areas of business management, including marketing, organisational behaviour and strategy. You will also spend part of your degree studying in Japan, immersing yourself in Japanese society. This four-year dual honours course blends an intensive study of Japanese language and culture with business management, opening opportunities across the whole of East Asia to ambitious graduates. Working with written and spoken Japanese from day one, you’ll be immersed in the language, culture and politics of Japan – approaching everything you learn from the perspective of business management. You’ll divide your time evenly between the Management School and the School of East Asian Studies – using insights from both, and your personal passion, to create a unique understanding of Japanese business management. Your intensive language training begins at the basics, as does your core understanding of business management, covering marketing, organisational behaviour and strategy. You'll spend your third year studying the language intensively at a Japanese university, making friends and potential career contacts. From day one, you’ll be supported by our expert teaching staff, developing an unparalleled knowledge of the subject at a theoretical level, gaining valuable lived experience, and building a portfolio of unique skills to take with you into the East Asian business world. Why study this course?

  • Gain lived experience with a year abroad - apply your rapidly developing language skills in the real world, refine your critical understanding – and experience a life-changing trip.
  • Highly-experienced teaching teams - you’ll benefit from the expertise of world leading academics from both the Management School and the School of East Asian Studies, in addition to the support offered by both departments. Sheffield University Management School is Triple Crown accredited by AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB.
  • Find a career connected to East Asia - an emphasis on skills development, careers and employability from day one means your degree gives you the best foundation for a career in the region.
