Anthropology and Sociology at Queen's University Belfast - UCAS

Course options

Course summary

This programme combines two major social science subjects: anthropology and sociology, aiming to equip students with the skills – theoretical, methodological, and ethnographic - to understand changing social and cultural relations. Anthropology contributes a focus on engaged, grounded, ethnographic engagement with cultures and societies, in local, national, and international contexts. Sociology contributes to an understanding of the wider social context within which human life and culture takes place - the shape of social relations, practices and major social institutions, like family, economy, and state, incorporating explanations of social stability and change. Both share an interest in power, ethnicity, conflict, equality, and social and cultural identities.
