Do you want to work in the Data, Space or Tech industry? If the answer is yes, then the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing is perfect for you. This course has been designed to help you develop your knowledge and skills in computing and data analytics. Throughout the program, you will learn computing and data fundamentals, such as Programming, Networking, Database Design and Development, Security and Analytics. This programme will provide you with an understanding of digital and data theory and a range of skills to enable you to gain employment in a range of roles across the industry. You will develop contemporary vocational skills including study, research, analysis, planning and organisational skills. You will also learn to take responsibility for your own learning and the ability to be flexible and to work co-operatively with others. Completion of the HNC will also provide opportunities for you to make progress towards achieving internationally recognised registration with a Professional Body such as the British Computer Society. Through studying the HNC in Computing you will get practical experience with emerging technologies, and you will be taught by staff with extensive industrial experience. The HNC in Computing develops knowledge and skills in areas such as Programming, Networking, and Project Management. Achievement of the HNC prepares you for further higher education qualifications such as year 1 of the FdSc Computer Technology, as well as the option to enter the industry to start your working career in Tech. The course is taught using a mixture of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, an example of the modules you will study are detailed below: • Programming • Networking • Data Analytics • Professional Practice • Database Design and Development • Security • Project Management • Maths for Computing Graduates have the opportunity to work in many different areas of the computing sector including roles such as: • Data Analyst • Business Analyst • Marketing Analyst • Data Engineer • Fraud Analyst • Operation Research Scientist

Qualified teacher status (QTS)
