Course summary

This is a 4 year degree course. Please ensure that when you apply for this course you choose Point of entry 1 in your UCAS Hub. This course provides you with the knowledge and understanding of the activities required to manage a business, and to ensure that it prospers, in a dynamic global business environment. The course emphasises the role of marketing in underpinning the success of business organisations, while placing this role in the context of other business functions such as finance and Human Resource Management. The course will also help you understand the various types of environment within which a business operates. This will involve investigating issues such as the types of competition that a business will face from their rivals, being aware of the role of stakeholders in the operation of a business and considering how changes in society may impact on the market for a product. The content of the course will be delivered using a wide range of approaches and you will be encouraged to use e-learning forums to interact with staff and other students. You will have the opportunity to advance your ICT skills through the use of application software and digital technologies. The diversity of topic areas covered in the study programme will allow you to develop your own understanding of collective responsibilities as global citizens within local, national, and international communities. The foundation year of this course is designed to offer applicants who do not have the required qualifications, a programme which will equip them with a robust toolkit of academic, digital and personal skills required for successful study in higher education. It also provides an understanding of, and insight into, a range of disciplines that underpin their chosen programme of study. In the foundation year students will develop their ability to gain the most out of structured in-class study, and also to manage and evaluate their own independent learning. This wide range of transferable skills is of immense value in both undergraduate study and graduate employment. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of their subject area to degree level. You will also have the opportunity to pursue a one-year work placement in employment, either in the UK or abroad. Opportunities are available to graduates to add value to their skills by studying the Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing qualifications or choose to study at Master’s level such as our MSc Marketing or MA in International Business Management. In addition students who complete this BA (Hons) will have gained sufficient credits to progress on to the CIM Level 7 Chartered Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

Qualification requirements

Prepare for Foundation Pathway: We will consider mature applicants (age 21 or over) who have not achieved 48 UCAS points (equivalence) from prior level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend a compulsory Prepare for foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course. Additional fee information

If you are a UK student enrolling on a full-time Foundation Degree or a Bachelor degree programme at the University of Wolverhampton in 2023/4, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s fee requirements). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year.
