A degree in Sociology can help you answer all these questions and more, providing you with the transferable skills and knowledge to access a wide range of careers or to embark on postgraduate study. This degree focuses on issues relating to social inequalities, diversity, and social justice. It will help develop your core competencies in sociology, with a focus on research methods, and different types of sociological thinking. You’ll also explore key sociological topics, including culture, race, gender, activism and health. You’ll be taught by active researchers, in areas including housing, asylum, climate change, young people and social justice, healthcare, gender, and death and dying. You’ll complete a final-year research project on a topic of your choice, reflecting your personal interests or career aspirations. In your second and third years, you’ll be able to tailor your studies and choose from a range of modules, which allows you to specialise in areas of interest to you. In your second and third years of this sociology degree, you’ll be able to tailor your studies and choose from a range of modules, which allows you to specialise in an area that interests you. Assessment method

You'll be taught through seminars, group work, practical experience, lectures, workshops, Brightspace (an online learning platform), and work placement. Assessment will include coursework, practice/competency-based learning, and examination.
