Course summary
The Pearson Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction are government-approved Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs), developed in collaboration with employers to meet industry standards and fill critical skills gaps in the built environment sector. These qualifications are designed for individuals seeking a professional, technical career in construction, including roles such as site manager, construction technician, building surveyor, project supervisor, and building control officer. Learners gain both academic knowledge and industry-relevant skills through a blend of theory, practical projects, and work-related learning. At Level 4 (HNC), students develop a strong foundation in construction principles, technology, and project management. Progressing to Level 5 (HND) deepens specialisation, offering pathways in Construction Management, Building Services Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Surveying. The qualifications support progression to employment or further study, including entry into the final year of a construction-related bachelor’s degree or higher apprenticeship routes. As HTQs, they are recognised by employers and professional bodies across the sector.
