Focus on innovative cutting, fabric sourcing and digital technologies in the development of clothing, whilst gaining skills in design research, 3D realisation, pattern drafting, manufacture and more. What can you expect? BA (Hons) Fashion Pattern Cutting focuses on innovative cutting, fabric sourcing and digital technologies in the development of structured and unstructured clothing. Students learn design research and interpretation, 3D realisation, fit alteration, pattern drafting and adaptation, construction and manufacture. There will also be a focus on trend investigation and market analysis.
- Innovative design practices: Develop expertise and learn key pattern cutting skills such as fabric sourcing, digital pattern making, 3D realisation and construction to bring garments from concept to creation.
- Career-focused skills development: Learn both traditional craft skills and cutting-edge digital technologies, that will equip you with industry-applicable abilities in a multitude of contexts from bespoke tailoring to high street manufacture.
- Industry collaborations: Participate in exciting collaborative projects with industry, gaining unique professional insights and opportunities.
- Year in industry: Choose to take an optional placement year between your second and third year, allowing you to apply the skills learned on our course in a professional environment.
- Hands-on learning in cutting-edge facilities: Access world-class studios, workshops, and digital design tools, enabling you to experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques to create innovative collections.
