Course summary

Our Management Psychology MSc provides you with a strong understanding of how to use psychology in the workplace and the tools needed to effectively manage people. It's ideal for those who have not studied psychology before and does not presume any prior knowledge of research methods. You'll analyse the main areas of management psychology: learning, training and development; leadership engagement and motivation; organisational development and change; psychological assessment at work; work design and wellbeing at work; strategic human resource management and managing diversity. The course also has a strong practical focus and it aims to improve your skills as a practitioner. That's why you'll also learn about consultancy as part of your studies. You'll also get a good grasp on research methods applicable to the workplace, something that is particularly valuable to future employers. An advanced degree from Nottingham will see you graduate with the knowledge you need to take the next step in your career.

Modules

You'll study across a number of compulsory modules designed to provide you with a sound knowledge and understanding of core areas of management psychology along with the skills to apply that knowledge in a practical setting. Study takes place over three semesters, autumn, spring, and summer. Typically taught modules are delivered in the autumn and spring semesters with the summer used for the research project, though this is dependent on your mode of study. Students taking the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) cover the same taught modules as MSc students, but do not take the Project and Dissertation module, for a total of 120 credits. For the most up-to-date module information and full details, please visit the course page on our website.

Assessment method

Your work will be assessed during or at the end of each module through a variety of means. To complete a module and gain its credits you'll need to make sure you attend your timetabled sessions and get over the 50% pass mark. To achieve the PGDip, you'll need a total of 120 credits.
