Course summary

The Digital Media Production degree is developed with industry experts, to help you build your understanding of Digital Media Production and develop the creative and technical skills you’ll need to thrive in the creative industries. During your degree you’ll get practical, hands-on experience in, camera operation, producing, directing, scriptwriting, editing, digital design, podcasting and presenting using our fully equipped TV Studio, podcast suites and streaming facilities. In your first year you’ll be introduced to the practical and technical fundamentals of digital media production. In your second and third years, you’ll work closely with employers in the creative media industry in a real-world professional environment through professional work placements and working on live industry briefs. You’ll be able to select option modules that will let you specialise in your preferred areas of interest and refine the skills you need for specific job roles or industries. You will meet numerous professionals from a wide range of creative industry backgrounds throughout the course, during workshops, seminars, TV and Film Studio visits and whilst working on industry productions. We are part of Connected Campus - Screen Yorkshire and you’ll benefit from our established employer networks and industry links. You’ll also be able to get involved in our annual Journalism and Media Week - Leeds Trinity University, where top broadcasters, digital content creators, programme makers and media experts give talks and run masterclasses. By the time you graduate you’ll have a wealth of experience, a host of employer connections and the skills necessary to find employment in a wide range of digital media-related roles including; television and film production and post-production, digital content creation, digital design, videography, social media, or for freelance work or self-employment. Professional Work Placements Your professional work placements will give you the chance to gain practical experience with some of the top media companies across the UK and develop your employability skills and industry connections. Previous Digital Screen Media students have completed their placements working with channels and streaming platforms such as YouTube, ITV, BBC and Channel 4, and on successful shows such as Emmerdale, Pointless, The Yorkshire Vet, Helicopter ER, and New Life in the Sun. Graduate Opportunities This degree is ideal preparation for a career in the digital media industry in roles including: digital content creator, production assistant / runner (Film & TV), social media management, television researcher, editor, camera operator, graphic and motion designer, and videographer.

On this course you will study a selection of modules, which may include: Fundamentals: Camera, Lighting, Sound; Digital Storytelling; Fact and Fiction; Digital Content Creation; Live Industry Project; Advanced Production Skills; Radio and Podcasting; TV Studio; Pitching for Industry; Cinematography; Audio Drama; Digital Studio; Transmedia Production.

All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own.
