Course summary
This HNC will enable you to develop your knowledge and skills in the fast moving computer games industry. You will meet with current developers and then design and create your own 2D and 3D games as part of a team. The course includes a work placement in your chosen area which enables you to develop relevant practical skills and undertake live projects. After successfully completing the HNC in year one you may choose to top up to a full HND in Games Development which can lead on to a wide range of roles including: Game designer; Game programmer; Technical artist; Level editor. Course Structure: HNC: Concept art, History of games, 3D modelling, Professional practice, Game creation HND: Collaborative project, Narrative, Advanced 3D modelling and character design, Professional practice, Game development and marketing Throughout your studies you will be using industry standard software including Adobe Creative suite, Unreal Engine, Maya and Mudbox. At the end of your study you will have developed the skills and qualifications necessary to start work in a related media career of your choice. Alternatively, you could also choose to study an extra year to ‘top-up’ your qualification to a full honours degree at a university after completion of the HND. Entry requirements: -A relevant Level 3 qualification such as Computing, Creative Media, Art and Design. -A portfolio of creative media work such as game ideas, concept art, game design and development, 3D modelling, 2D animation, etc. -English and maths (grade C/4 or above at GCSE or Level 2 equivalent. -Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered
