Course summary

Designed for students with diverse backgrounds, academic histories, and spiritual perspectives, this pathway appeals to those driven by inquisitiveness and a calling to comprehend and shape the world through faith-based community development. The program introduces a distinct learning experience, where educators and peers together delve into contemporary pivotal issues. By blending theological and community development insights and traditions, the curriculum fosters a profound and well-founded analysis of the world, preparing students to instigate transformative change. We anticipate that future students will uncover novel perspectives, reimagining their world and their role within it, while developing methods to inspire others to do the same. This journey, encompassing spirituality, philosophy, politics, and practicality, is profoundly personal and deliberately collective.

Modules

Core Units: Theological Foundations for Understanding & Practicing Community (ST7701) and The Kingdom of God, Power, & Social Change (ST7702) and Theories and Theologies of Change (ST7703). Pathway Units: Research Methods & Literature Review (AS7595), Models of Theological Reflection (PT7620), Leadership & Change (PT7631), Community Engagement: Building Communities of Shalom (ST7680), Independent Study (ST7660), and Re-Imagining the World: Transformational Learning towards Social Change (ST7704).

Assessment method

Assessment methods include essays, presentations, seminar participation and final dissertation.


Entry requirements

Good Honours degree in a relevant subject (exceptional entry considered). International applicants will need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
