Course summary
On this BA (Hons) Music Performance degree you will have individual tuition in instrumental and/or vocal performance and have the opportunity to join a selection of university musical groups including six orchestras, five choirs and nine other taught performance ensembles. Ensembles perform throughout the year and attend a rich programme of concerts, recitals and masterclasses by visiting artists. You will train in the art of performance and study topics including performance anxiety, the use of gesture and movement in performance, and concert and event hosting. You will complete a personal study module where you have the chance present a longer and more challenging programme of work. On this course you will:

- Study topics including performance anxiety, performance development, and the use of movement and gesture.
- Develop your personal performance.
- Learn about concert and event hosting.
- Choose to study STET Yoga, or dance and acting alongside your music studies.
- Explore a wide choice of contextual modules.
- Be able to enjoy a complete ensemble experience.
- Have the opportunity to join a selection of six orchestras, nine large ensembles, five choirs and more than 70 small ensembles.
Assessment method
You will be assessed through a variety of assignments including essays, examinations, performances and practical work, project work, presentations and seminar discussions.

Extended Project
Interview: Candidates will be required to demonstrate, in a performance audition, ability in an instrument or voice and display musical awareness and skill. Applicants with high levels of performance skills may be considered for a lower academic offer. The University welcomes mature applicants who may not have the standard entry requirements listed here. As an alternative, a 'non-standard entry portfolio' may be set for the applicant to complete in order to demonstrate their readiness for higher education.
